Aug. 7th, 2018 11:07 amDaye before the war: A successful, ruthlessly efficient negotiator, Daye settled herself comfortably in the world. Her impeccable track record of being detached and economical hit a bump when she fell into an intensely competitive back-and-forth with a client, with whom her relationship would ultimately shift from professional to personal to romantic. She falls in love with Minjee and they eventually marry.
And then the world ends, which is just peachy.
Not one to be counted down and out, Daye lands on her feet and begins working to procure hard-to-find items for new clients. Not just men and women in stuffy suits, formerly occupying boardrooms and VIP suites, but everyday folks who need protection or want access to simple luxuries from the world before. She's human, so she doesn't have much stake in the war, except as it has displaced her family. She's not happy about that part. There may or may not be blood.
But you have to pick yourself up and keep moving and that's what she's done. She and Minjee live on a houseboat, the interior of which is veritably packed with various treasures. Think of her as your average, tiny, gay, aggressive, French-speaking fairy godmother.
